About the Senior Arts Foundation

The Senior Arts Foundation (SAF) connects persons over 50 with the arts. SAF was established in 2007 to bring the arts to older adult communities. We believe the arts are essential to human connection, dignity and well-being. Through funding, partnership and advocacy, we aim to ensure that older adults can enrich their lives and strengthen their communities with better arts programs that inspire joy and imagination and foster social engagement.

What We Stand For

Our values guide the Artist Registry, our events, and the way we work with senior artists in the community.

Excellence

We recognize and celebrate the high caliber of artwork created by older adults.

Respect

We honor the lifetime of experience that senior artists bring to their practice.

Visibility

Through the Registry and events, we ensure senior artists are seen and heard.

Community

We connect artists, audiences, and the next generation through intergenerational programs.

Volunteer-Led

SAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run by a small board of volunteers — artists, educators, and community members — with deep ties to Santa Monica College and the wider Santa Monica arts community.

If you would like to volunteer, serve on a committee, or partner with SAF on an event, we would love to hear from you.
